Why production-day checks miss it
Light effects can accumulate during packing, transport and display. A product that meets the initial shade target may change later, especially in clear drinks, clear-packed confectionery, display-cabinet bakery, pale dairy or blue/green products.
A basic comparison
Split one batch between light protection and simulated display. Keep temperature and packaging equivalent, using the final package or a close material match. Track the shade at consistent times. A clear difference identifies light as a relevant variable under those conditions.
Choose the response
Investigate light-protective packaging, lower headspace oxygen, a different color or blend, and feasible display/transport requirements. Dark packaging can reduce light contribution but does not establish that heat, oxygen or formulation effects are resolved. Continue the actual shelf observation before deciding the final route.
