Define the target
Use a reference sample, color card, photograph or instrument data. Strawberry red, berry red, orange-red, gold and tea-yellow are different targets and may require different candidate combinations.
Compare the later shade
Two colors can match initially but respond differently to heat, pH, light and oxygen. A blend may drift yellow, purple or gray as one component fades faster. Assess the endpoint and storage progression, not only fresh mixing.
Keep the first trials interpretable
Fix base and process, then compare two or three candidate combinations and relevant addition levels. Keep enough controls to identify differences without simultaneously changing everything. Clean-water trials may screen shade but cannot establish the real-food result.
Review the full formulation
A blend introduces several ingredient identities, label considerations and cost contributions. Have regulatory, purchasing and quality teams review the actual composition alongside technical validation. Blending may improve a shade or stability, but does not guarantee either; confirm with real processing and final packaging.
