Natural color trials in tea drinks
Use the real tea base and water source to assess color, sediment and stored appearance.

Tea is not a blank background
Green, oolong, black and fruit/floral teas differ in native color, polyphenols and minerals. A clean-water result cannot represent the finished beverage.
Separate the symptoms
Darkening, fading, sediment, colored rings and fine bottom particles may come from tea-base change, color compatibility, heating or storage. Record each symptom and when it appears.
Design the controls
Compare relevant pH levels, water sources, tea-base batches, before/after heat, light-protected/exposed samples and with/without vitamin C. Keep the variable under investigation clear rather than changing the whole formula.
Choose candidates conditionally
For red tea drinks, beetroot red, carmine or blends can be candidates. For yellow/orange, compare gardenia yellow, beta-carotene or curcumin where suitable. Blue/green directions need additional care. Check the exact specification and destination; neither tea sediment nor a poor water trial alone establishes product quality.
