Troubleshoot colored rings and bottom particles in tea drinks
Record defect location, water and tea-base behavior before altering the color or emulsion.

Be specific about location
A ring at the surface, shoulder or wall is different from bottom particles or loose flocs. Deposits may originate in tea, hydrocolloid incompatibility, incomplete color dispersion or heat-related aggregation. Photograph the location and time of appearance.
Use real tea
Green, black, oolong and fruit/floral teas differ in polyphenols, minerals, trace protein and native color. Stability in water does not establish stability in tea.
Compare water and process
Prepare the same formula using deionized and production water to examine hardness and ion contributions. Include equipment contact where relevant. Record tea extraction, filtration, cooling, color, acid, hydrocolloid, heat and fill sequence. Change one key variable per comparison.
Do not begin by adding more emulsifier
An unidentified ring does not prove emulsifier shortage. Added emulsifier can introduce haze, flavor or regulatory questions without removing the cause. Keep real-base blanks and timed observations, then verify the selected correction in the intended package and storage conditions.
